Dance & Musical Theatre Education

ELD is aiming to keep high quality dance a priority in schools around the North East.

From KS1 - KS4, ELD can adapt to anything you need.

Dance is a subject that has become a taboo topic in education and many teachers are uncomfortable to teach it, as it is such a specialist area. Dance should be treated as an important part of a child’s school life as not only is it physically beneficial and encourages creativity, but Dance also improves social awareness, confidence and a physical respect of other pupils.

Dance & Musical Theatre Clubs

A fun and inspiring club that gives pupils a chance to experience all areas of dance and musical theatre. Ultimately the pupils will have an understanding of both practice and commitment to something outside of the curriculum, as well as performing to build confidence.

After School

Dance & Musical Theatre Workshops

Workshops are a great way to get pupils to become excited and interested about dance. With less focus on the technique (but still rooted in the class) and more focus on movement and creativity, workshops are a perfect way to inspire our next generation of dancers.

Half or Full Day

Curriculum Lessons (KS1-KS3)

Primary: Linking to the aims of the National Curriculum to help develop basic movement and developing skills such as balance and co-ordination but also learning simple dance movement

Secondary: Pushing their limits with various styles, techniques and crafts to enable all pupils, male & female, to enjoy and thrive in Dance.

BTEC Delivery

KS4 Dance options are not always available, we are able to give the school an opportunity to offer a BTEC or GCSE, in a subject they enjoy. The students will receive the best resources, training and guidance to accomplish their predicted grades or higher.

Within the school timetable

CPD/Staff Training

Increase knowledge of Dance in Schools to allow for more confident and creative students.

Resources given such as Schemes of Work, Booklets, PowerPoints along with set Choreography.
Various 3 modules for each year group.

Course delivery can be at your school or the ELD Studio, which is based in Sunderland City Centre.

Alternative Provision

Starting September 2026.

A new and specialist Alternative Provision for girls, with a particular focus on the performing arts.

A specialist alternative provision for KS3–KS4 females or gender-questioning students who are disengaged, non-attending, or at risk of exclusion.

Designed to meet and support the growing need for alternative education.
